Victory in Europe Day March

for Brass Band

Composed by Keith Terrett

Victory in Europe Day March is a jubilant and ceremonial concert march celebrating the end of the Second World War in Europe on 8 May 1945. Written in the finest traditions of the British brass band, the work captures the relief, pride, and optimism that swept across Europe as peace was finally declared.

The march opens with a confident fanfare before moving through energetic strains, memorable melodies, and a broad, noble trio that reflects both remembrance and thanksgiving. A vibrant break strain and thrilling final reprise bring the work to a magnificent conclusion, making full use of the colour, warmth, and power of the modern brass band.

While celebrating victory, the march also honours the courage and sacrifice of those who served during the war, making it equally appropriate for commemorative concerts and remembrance events as it is for gala performances and patriotic occasions.

Designed for British-style brass bands, Victory in Europe Day March is enjoyable to rehearse, exciting to perform, and guaranteed to make a strong impression on audiences.
