Siciliano – BWV 1031: Second Movement for Bassoon & Piano

US$9.99

Siciliano – BWV 1031: Second Movement, traditionally attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, is a work of gentle elegance and expressive simplicity. Its lilting compound rhythm recalls the pastoral Siciliana dance, while the bassoon's graceful melody unfolds above a flowing and delicately supportive piano accompaniment.

This arrangement preserves the music’s Baroque poise while allowing the bassoon to sing with warmth and freedom. Careful attention should be given to phrasing, breath control and balance between the two instruments. The overall character should remain calm and unhurried, with subtle flexibility helping the melody retain its natural vocal quality.

Please note: the piece is associated with the Sonata in E-flat major, BWV 1031, whose authorship is sometimes disputed and may be connected with C. P. E. Bach.
